Mayo Clinic Weighs In On Hooping As Exercise

No less significant a health authority than the Mayo Clinic has gotten involved in analyzing the quality of exercise that hooping provides.

In a recent study, they have studied the use of weighted hoops as an exercise methodology.

Weighted hoops add weight to the inside of the hoop in order to require additional effort by the hooper to keep the hoop spinning.

They did determine that adding weight to the hoop increases the number of calories that are burned in an average hooping session.

Because weighted hoops are heavier and larger, you may find that you need to add a textured tape to the hoop in order to keep it under control. Gaffers tape is a great solution to give the hoop a little extra “grab” as you spin it around your waist.
